DUANE J. OLSON
Known as the only Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner in the Twin Cities, Dr. Duane specializes treating shoulder impingement, rotator cuff sprains, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), and acute ankle and knee sprains.
Dr. Duane treats several Northern Lights and M1 volleyball players, local high school athletes, and triathletes for their acute injuries, nutrition, and preventative treatments and exercises. He currently attends regular continuing education classes through Functional Neurology Seminars and Apex Energetics to increase his Functional Neurology examination skills for complex sports and extremity injuries, as well as reducing recovery times through Functional Medicine.
Dr. Duane grew up in a small city in South Dakota, where he participated in football, basketball, track, cross-country, and golf. He was fortunate to grow up on a farm where he developed his work ethic and active lifestyle as a young child. He currently plays basketball and golf regularly, as well as co-ed volleyball in Lakeville and Apple Valley.
While at Palmer College, he met his wife, Dr. Stephanie Olson, while playing basketball. Dr. Duane had family that lived in Lakeville his whole life, and after a few months of living there, they knew Minnesota was where they wanted to raise a family.
Dr. Duane enjoys his free time with his wife and kids, Hailey and Camden. He loves watching Camden learn new things, and Hailey enjoying gymnastics and swim lessons. They can also be seen at their church in Lakeville, or many local high school sporting events cheering on their patients.
STEPHANIE J. OLSON
During her internship through Palmer College, Dr. Steph worked closely with a distinguished chiropractor and lecturer in Minneapolis who specializes in chiropractic neurology. She helped examine many interesting cases including Parkinson’s, cerebellar diseases, Asperger’s, dystonia, and chronic migraine. She continues her education focusing on Functional Medicine and nutrition through Apex Energetics.
With the help of her diverse nutritional background, Dr. Steph formulated BARE Necessities kids shakes. Her daughter, Hailey, was a picky eater and started to develop skin rashes after eating certain foods. Dr. Steph knew she had to create a product that was allergy friendly. BARE Necessities is free from gluten, dairy, soy, GMOs, and artificial sweeteners.
Dr. Steph grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She was very active in dance as a child and played basketball, volleyball, and soccer. As a toddler, she developed chronic ear infections and needed antibiotics once a week. Her mother was hesitant to put tubes in her ears. She asked her chiropractor, who was also Dr. Steph’s aunt, if she could help. Within one month, her ear infections had subsided!
With many chiropractors in her family, Dr. Steph knew at an early age there was something special about their profession. She shadowed her uncle Jamie in seventh grade, and from that day forward, she began to pursue her career as a chiropractor. She attended Northern Michigan University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science before following in her family’s footsteps at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Steph enjoys spending time with her husband and children, Hailey and Camden. She enjoys her special dates with Hailey, snuggle time with Camden, and coffee dates with dad. Dr. Steph spends her free time reading mystery and thriller novels by authors like James Patterson. She loves Crossfit and works out at Mi5 in Lakeville and golfs with Dr. Duane.
Crystal has over 15 years of diverse physical therapy experience, primarily in outpatient orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and pediatric settings. Her treatment approach focuses on retraining nerves and muscles through hands-on techniques, teaching appropriate exercises, and educating her clients on why they are crucial for optimal well-being.
She practices a combination of manual therapy techniques, including craniosacral and myofascial therapy, a gentle, hands-on, non-invasive therapy technique. She has attended continuing education courses for this technique.
She also practices myofascial release techniques, another form of hands-on tissue work, to decrease pain-causing tension. Crystal is a certified Kinesio taping practitioner. Depending on how it is used, Kinesio tape can be used to encourage muscles to fire for improved strength or discourage muscle firing to calm spasms, reducing pain. The tape is non-medicated and provides support and stability to muscles and fascia, aiding in the healing process.
Crystal promotes positive outcomes through educating her patients about their impairments and anatomy, encouraging active participation in healing through a home program, and providing knowledge for prevention of future injury or dysfunction.
